Sister Therese A. Connor, RDC, a member of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, a field liaison project manager for Self Help Community Services, Bronx, NY, for over 12 years, died on April 29, at Good Counsel Convent. Sister Therese was 73. She was born on September 18, 1928 in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of William E. and Catherine Boyle Connor. Sr. Therese entered the Divine Compassion congregation on August 15, 1950.

She received a B.A. degree in English from Good Counsel College and an M.A. in Business from NYU. She also earned a certificate in Religious Studies from Providence College. She began a long and rich teaching career at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Elmsford, NY, St. John the Evangelist School, Mahopac, St. Joseph's School, Croton Falls, St. Mary's School, Katonah and John F. Kennedy High School, Somers. Sr. Therese served in religious education programs at Blessed Sacrament, St. Benedict's and St. Emeric parishes in the New York Archdiocese.

Sister Therese was a dedicated worker for the homebound, ill and elderly people of the Bronx. From 1982 to the present she served in various positions in agencies serving the needs of these citizens. Sister Alice Feeley, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, said, "Throughout her life and extensive ministry to children, adolescents and the elderly. Sr. Therese Connor communicated a compassion that was joyful, generous and appreciative of the present moment. We shall miss her presence in our community."

Sister Therese is survived by her religious Sisters of the Divine Compassion and her sister, Mrs. Margaret Schmittgall of Queens, NY, her brother, Francis of Rhinebeck, NY, and Joseph of Monroe, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Sister was predeceased by her sister, Catherine and brother, William.
