Sister Dolores Mascali, RDC, (formerly known as Sr. Mary Bonaventure), a member of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, died peacefully on July 22, 2010. Sister Dolores was born in the Bronx on July 1, 1936, the daughter of Santo Michael Mascali, and Angelina (Mercer) Mascali. She entered the Sister of the Divine Compassion and professed her final vows on April 26, 1962. Sister Dolores attended Preston High School in the Bronx and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Good Counsel College in 1960 and a M.A. in Religious Studies from Manhattanville College in 1971. She received an M.S. in Pastoral Counseling from Iona College in 1981.

From 1982 to the present she was a Pastoral Counselor at Good Counsel. Through the years Sister Dolores taught religion at Good Counsel and at John F. Kennedy High Schools after working with elementary school children at Sacred Heart, Hartsdale, St. Anthony's, E. White Plains, St. Joseph's Croton Falls and St. Frances de Chantal in the Bronx. Sister Susan Merritt, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion commented, "Dolores was a compassionate, caring mentor to many and faithful member of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion. She will be missed by all who knew her." Sister Dolores is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion, her sister, Lucille Flatley, her beloved nephews, Bill and Christopher as well as her grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and friends.
