Pride Month

Our mission calls us to be the “Compassionate Presence of God in our world.” During this Gay Pride Month, let us turn our compassion and prayers to the group facing great discrimination and condemnation at this time, the LGBQT+ community, especially the Catholics among them. Let us pray for these individuals, extending our love as God loves them. We can also pray for their families and friends, who struggle to understand and support them.

Let us ask our loving God for open minds and hearts to encompass all that God has made, recognizing the unique gifts that each person, of whatever sexual orientation, has to bring to building up the People of God.

Lord God, our Maker,

The work of your hands displays your goodness and glory;

It is marvelous to behold.

From the most intricate snowflake to the grandest of mountain peaks,

With each inbreaking of the sun’s rays that paint the sky until day’s end,

Your limitless love creates it all.

As we gaze, then, upon your children,

The special co-creators you have made

To experience you and your beauty,

May we always appreciate the dignity of each person:

Straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender.
