Sr. Mary Charlotte Brennan, RDC.

Sister Mary Charlotte Brennan, RDC (Mary Ann Brennan), a Sister of the Divine Compassion, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2020 after a long illness.

Sr. Charlotte was born in New York City in 1937 the daughter of Thomas Brennan and Julia Kunsch Brennan. Sister attended Holy Rosary Elementary School and Preston High School both in the Bronx, and Good Counsel College in White Plains where she earned a BA in English. Sister also received her MSL in Library Science from St. John’s University in Queens, NY.

Sister’s teaching career began at Good Counsel Elementary School where she taught 2nd grade. She also taught at Our Lady of Sorrows in White Plains and St. Lawrence O’Toole in Brewster.  Sister was the Librarian at the College of White Plains and at Kennedy Catholic in Somers. In 1977 she began her long career at Good Counsel Academy High School where she served as an Administrator.

Sr. Laura Donovan, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion said, “Charlotte was a woman of deep faith who, even throughout her recent affliction, trusted wholly in God’s mercy. May our dear Charlotte rest in the gentle peace of her loving God and may her family be consoled by the grace she bore at all times and in all circumstances.”  

Sr. Charlotte is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion, her siblings, Theresa Delevan, Suzanne Baranowski and Thomas Brennan as well as many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.  Sister was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth McGuinness.
