Sr. Ellen Catherine Jackson, RDC, (formerly known as Sister Mary Reparatrice) a Sister of the Divine Compassion, died April 25. She was 83.

Sr. Jackson was born in the Bronx in 1930, she was the daughter of Samuel and Helen Jackson. She attended St. Frances de Chantal School in Throgs Neck and St. Jean the Baptiste High School in Manhattan. She received her nursing degree from St. Vincent Academy and for many years served as the nurse in the congregation. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Iona College and was a certified as an AIDS counselor and an Alcoholism counselor.

In addition to serving as the nurse at Good Counsel, she also worked at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, the Rockland Psychiatric Center and New York Hospital in White Plains.

Sr. Jackson is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion; cousin, Linda; nephew, Stephen Jackson; and several grand nieces and nephews.
