What Kind of Veil

by Terry Young, RDC

What kind of veil?

Keeps me from seeing the within of-

The trees and the sky,

A ladybug and the firefly,

My friend and my neighbor…

What kind of veil?

Keeps me from hearing the rhythms and melody-

Of the waves on the seashore,

The chirping of birds in the springtime,

The howling of the winter wind,

The cry of a child…

What kind of veil?

Keeps me from feeling and knowing,

In the now-

The presence of past loved ones,

The places visited,

The words and meals shared…

What kind of veil needs lifting that

Gives the divine energy,

To show me the when and how

To bring hope to those in doubt,

To be divine compassion to those near and far…

What kind of veil…
