“If we can improve lives as part of our compassionate work, we are following our mission.” These are the words of Sr. Theresa Vinh who founded the Mission of Hope in the impoverished north western part of Vietnam in 1997.  Her mission of charity is located in the diocese of Hung Hoa and the archdiocese of Hanoi.  Initially the Mission provided catechist formation and established catechetical formation programs.  With the help of generous donors and fundraisers, the Mission of Hope has grown and currently provides: monthly food allowances to over 500 disabled persons, distribution of free medicines, repair and improvement of homes and houses of worship, to name a few.

Sr. Vinh’s current initiative is the building of a pre-school in Go Vap, Saigan, Vietnam.  Last July she went to the proposed location and observed the life of the migrant families and their need for an early childhood education facility in this area.   She was able to secure a generous donor to allocate the funds for this project.  The school is in the process of being built.  We look forward to seeing the completed school very soon.
