Sr. Miriam Moran, RDC, (formerly known as Sr. Mary Charles), a Sister of the Divine Compassion, died peacefully on June 26, 2014.
Sr. Miriam was born in White Plains, NY in 1922, the daughter of Martin and Ellen Brown Moran. She attended St. John's Elementary School and Good Counsel High School. Sister received her BA from Good Counsel College, an MA from Fordham University and a Ph.D. in History from Fordham University. Sister's Dissertation was entitled "British Foreign Policy and the United States."
In her years in academia, Sister served as Academic Dean and Professor of History at Good Counsel College, Vice President for Enrollment at the College of White Plains and Pace University. After her retirement from these positions, she served in many capacities for the congregation.
Sister Carol Wagner, President of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion said, "Known for her intelligence, wit, and professionalism, Sr. Miriam was also a woman of deep prayer and compassion who lived her life in service of the Gospel. She will be missed by us all."
Sister Miriam is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Compassion, her dear cousin, Msgr. Daniel Flynn and longtime friend, Estelle Bradley.
